Descriptions Operational since 1848, Abbey of Gethsemani is a place where Trappist monks live, pray and work. The monastery is a school of the Lord s service where monks offer individual prayers. Its people earn their living by making cheese, fruitcake and bourbon fudge. The monastery provides a variety of retreats, as well as conducts conferences and presentations on various topics related with spiritual and monastic life. It includes an arena and offers hospitality services. Additionally, the monastery features a milieu and provides private consulting services. It offers opportunities for guests to participate in the Eucharist and prayers. Abbey of Gethsemani maintains a library that includes a collection of periodicals, tapes, and classic and contemporary religious books. In addition, the monastery maintains a dining room that provides accommodations for people with disabilities. |
